Jávea, the Natural Gem of the Costa Blanca Norte

Nestled at the easternmost tip of the Costa Blanca, between the capes of San Antonio and La Nao, Jávea enjoys a unique microclimate, sheltered by the Montgó massif from harsh continental winds, creating mild winters and summers cooled by refreshing sea breezes. In 1986, the World Health Organisation recognised the climate of Jávea as one of the most equitable in the world, with nearly 325 sunny days a year.

The town is made up of three distinct and complementary areas: the medieval Casco Antiguo with its cobbled streets and the fortified Gothic church of San Bartolomé dating from the 14th century, the lively harbour of Duanes de la Mar and the Arenal beach with its promenade. Strict building regulations have prevented high-rise construction, preserving the breathtaking vistas and architectural harmony of the town. Its 25 kilometres of coastline alternate between Blue Flag beaches and unspoilt coves, including the stunning Cala Granadella and Cala Portitxol with its iconic white fishermen's cottages.

The most important local celebration is the Nit dels Focs de Sant Joan on 23 June, declared a Festival of Tourist Interest by the Generalitat Valenciana, with spectacular bonfires on the beaches and unforgettable night-time festivities. In July, the Virgen del Carmen festivities and the Moors and Christians festival bring the harbour to life with colourful costumed parades and fireworks.

Gastronomically, Jávea is a food lover's paradise, from Michelin-starred restaurants to the countless authentic tapas bars in the historic old town. BonAmb (2 Michelin stars), set in an exceptional natural environment, is one of the most prestigious gastronomic addresses in the Comunitat Valenciana.
